the other reviews are right: the bartender here is so helpful and personable. I explained what I like and he suggested a drink of his own creation, which was delicious and STRONG! this place has an intimate, romantic vibe. loved that the music wasn't so loud that you couldn't talk.

Awesome little spot on the outskirts of the Baltimore Marina. They have the ability to make any classic cocktail you desire, from a traditional egg white whiskey sour to a smoked margarita. Come here if you want quality of drink over quantity of guests.

I didn’t stop in for food, so don’t take my 2 stars as not liking it. Steve was wonderful and very helpful. He made me a lovely pear and cucumber drink. If you like Moscow mule? You need one from Steve.

I heard the stories about this place and it had been closed for a couple of years as the hotel it's in underwent renovation and ownership changes but it's back open and I couldn't be happier. Steve the bartender is currently a one man show and we were there on the weekend it reopened and he was so happy to be back in his happy place. The man is a cocktail maven who loves his craft and what he does and his customers as well. There is currently no menu here you ask for what you want or can tell Steve what you are in the mood for and he will make something amazing! I got a smoked old fashioned that he smokes with his own blend of wood and spices and it was easily in the Top 5 of best old fashioneds I've ever had. If you are in Fells Point looking for a cocktail and Anchor Tavern is open make sure you visit!

Steve, you are an absolute legend and godsend. This place is top priority on our visits. We were so lucky the first time in Fell's Point to have two women tell us "you NEED to go down there and have a drink." Best advice ever given. Steve even remembered me months after our first trip. Don't get upset with how long it takes for your drink to get made. Absolute perfection and well worth the time and money. Old fashioned and whiskey sours go down so smooth. Any time we travel there... "Let's go see Steve!" Keep him there. He makes that place.

This one was an unexpected gem and one of the most memorable stops of our Fells Point trip. We walked in on a Thursday night (not sure of the exact time), and it was completely empty. No bartender in sight, no other patrons, no background noise. For a moment, we genuinely wondered if we were in the right place. The bar is down a flight of stairs, tucked into the basement, and it's notable because it's Fells Point's only and possibly first basement bar, which already gives it serious character points. We waited near the bar for a few minutes, heard nothing, saw no one, and eventually started heading back up the stairs to leave. That's when Steve, the bartender, literally came after usnot in a weird way, but in a very human, "Hey! Sorry about that, I was in the stock room come back in!" way. And honestly? From that moment on, the experience completely flipped. Steve was phenomenal. Friendly, welcoming, deeply knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the place. He's worked there for 18 years, and once we sat down, he turned the bar into a living history lesson. He shared stories about Fells Point, Baltimore, Edgar Allan Poe, the building itself, and all the ghost stories tied to the space. He also told us about the celebrities who've passed through, including the fun detail that Blake Shelton once sat in the very bar stool I was sitting in and ordered a Bullet bourbon. Naturally, that kind of trivia just adds to the charm. Drink-wise, I ordered an Angry Orchard, and my friend had a single Tito's with cranberry and soda water. Our total was $26.16, which feels pretty standard for Baltimore definitely not cheap, but not shocking either. The bar itself is small, intimate, and packed with atmosphere exposed brick, low ceilings, and that cozy, historic, slightly haunted vibe you hope for in a basement bar. It's also connected to The William Fell Inn hotel through a separate entrance, which makes it feel like a hidden secret rather than a tourist stop. We loved the
